Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Contract Type: Full-Time/Part-Time, Term-Time Only- 8:30-3:30pm.
Salary: £76-£90 a day - dependent on experience and qualifications
Veritas Education are working with a vibrant and inclusive special needs primary school in Bradford. The school is committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for the students. The students have a range of needs including learning difficulties, Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and challenging behaviours.
Veritas Education are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join the schools dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the class teacher to support the learning and development of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Provide one-to-one or small group support, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contribute to the assessment of student's progress.
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, to create a comprehensive support network.
- Support students with personal care and behaviour management when required.
Requirements:
- Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs is essential, experience working with adults in a care setting is also valued.
- Level 2 Team Teach is essential, this training can be offered by Veritas.
- Experience using assistive technology to support learning is desirable.
- Knowledge of specific SEN interventions is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of each child.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute positively to the school community.
- Candidates must hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS upon registration.
- Have proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
