A Special Needs School in Pontefract is looking for a caring Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is due to start after February half term until the end of the academic year.
The school supports children and young people from 4 to 18 years with various additional needs, including Autism, communication impairments and complex needs. Therefore, if you are patient, understanding and up for a challenge then you will be perfect for this role.
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, your daily duties will involve supporting the class teacher, whilst providing one to one support for the Special Needs students. You will help run exciting lessons to help make the classroom a fun and happy place. Behavioural management and personal care may also be required due to the needs of the pupils.
To qualify as a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, experience working with children and/or adults with learning disabilities is required. This can be professional or personal experience, such as having a family member with additional needs. A relevant degree would also be useful as well as experience in education or training like safeguarding or a care certificate.
