Hays is one of the market-leading agencies in the Education sector in Tewkesbury and is currently actively recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to assist a Year 4 child at a primary school in Tewkesbury.What you will be doing/ your responsibilities:
- Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Providing 1:1 care to a child
- Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment
- Recording and reporting the child's progress to the Teacher
- Helping the child stay focused during class hours
- Helping Teachers manage student behaviour
- Helping Teachers improving the child's core skills, for example reading, writing
- Looking after and managing the child if unwell or upset
- Providing a healthy, engaging and safe learning environment
What you'll need to succeed, skills and competencies:
- Ability to guide and support children
- Ability to communicate clearly and articulately
- Inquisitive towards children, good relationship building
- Ability to create an encouraging learning environment for children
- Active listening skills
- Empathetic - understanding, encouraging and sensitivity towards children and their needs
- Ability to carry out tasks involving a computer or hand-device
- Ability to respond calmly and constructively when under stress
- Adaptable and flexible work attitude
Essential:
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or equivalent (at least 40 days in the last 5 years)
- Passion for working with children with Special Education Needs
Desired but not essential qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
- Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or similar
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education or similar
- T Level in Education and Early Years or similar
