What you’ll be doing as a Strategic Contracts Manager
The Strategic Contract Manager is responsible for developing and managing end to end plans for their area, for both immediate and future needs, and identifying a pipeline of initiatives to maximise value and outcomes for Thames Water, balancing commercial risk and value opportunities. This role will initially focus on management of the Asset, Capital and Engineering Professional Services Category.
- Understand the category and provide leadership and insight for the business on all aspects of supply market dynamics, regulatory and internal frameworks, suppliers, and technical innovations.
- Lead category projects and sourcing events adhering to the required approach
- Draft, negotiate and obtain agreement to commercial contracts ensuring that operational and commercial risks to business are fully understood and minimised.
- Be a key interface with the supplier on a particular contract, ensuring agreed value is being delivered from the contract.
- Liaise with the appropriate teams to execute any contract changes or performance escalations/disputes.
- Lead the review of supplier opportunities, innovations, and improvements
- Have a clear and granular understanding of stakeholder and corporate needs, both immediate and long term
- Have a detailed knowledge of the external supply market including suppliers, trends, innovation, market changes and dynamics that enable the identification of new suppliers or innovations which will be of value to Thames.

What you should bring to the role
- Experience in contract management in a multi stakeholder environment, delivering contract or category management services
- Experience of leading multi-disciplinary project teams
- Some industry and business knowledge
- Track record in delivering against stretching targets
- Experience in project and performance management
- Developing supplier relationships
- Excellent proven commercial and contractual acumen
- Solid negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- Competitive salary from £45,000 pa to £60,000 per annum
- Annual Leave - 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service (Plus bank holidays)
