We are looking to recruit hardworking, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and proactive individuals to fulfil the role of Driver/Operative within the Street Cleansing Department.
Street Cleansing is a front-line service, responsible for keeping the city clean and free from litter.
The successful applicant must hold a full UK driving licence and will be expected to drive a crew cab vehicle up to 3.5 tonne. The time spent driving in this role is limited within the team and mainly consists of carrying out routine Street Cleansing tasks. The applicant must be able to walk long distances, which could be up to 8 miles a day. You will be required to work in all-weather conditions throughout the year and should have a good knowledge of Derby. In this role you will be required to work in all areas within the city boundary of Derby.
This position is working within a team in areas, but you will be working on your own mostly following guidance from the chargehand. The main duties will consist of carrying out many tasks such as: litter picking (which could include using a Street Cleansing barrow), emptying bins, and sweeping, weeding, removing dog fouling and fly-tipping.
The successful applicant will be required to carry out different training courses which will include manual handling and drug related litter removal, also if required asbestos awareness training.
If selected for interview applicants will be required to complete a written test.
Successful applicants will have to undertake a driving assessment to assess suitability for the position.
