Job description

The Student & Academic Services Directorate of the University of Greenwich is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Student Information Officer (SIO) to join our Student Centre team at our Avery Hill Campus.    The post is situated within our Avery Hill Student Centre in a busy student-facing environment, where students, staff and visitors can access a wide range of student support services or be given the necessary information or guidance to help them resolve their queries and questions.    The Student Information Officer position plays a vital role as the initial point of contact in supporting and responding to the wide breadth of student enquiries – while this part-time role will be primarily focused around face-to-face enquiries at the front desk during the late-morning and lunchtime periods, queries may also be received and processed by phone, via email and through our enquiry management platform. SIOs are also required to have the necessary understanding of the specialists within the team, wider directorate and institution to make accurate referrals or escalate enquiries to the subject matter experts. The ideal candidate will have enthusiasm for supporting students, ensuring that they are at the heart of all that we do. They will have a passion for: working with students and colleagues to achieve our priorities of delivering a world-class welcome to all students, enhancing the student experience through the services we provide, and demonstrating our positive impact. They will also possess experience in providing administrative support in a busy and dynamic team, and a proven track record delivering a range of user-focussed services to clients and/or students.   Occasional work at other University campuses (at Greenwich and Medway), along with some late working and occasional weekend work to support directorate-wide priorities such as registration and open days, will be an on-going requirement of this role. For an informal conversation about the role you can contact the Avery Hill Student Centre Manager, Mark Wright (m.r.wright@greenwich.ac.uk).   Should you have any recruitment related queries please contact the People Operations Team on peopleoperationssas@greenwich.ac.uk Employment Visa: Under the UK Government Points Based System scheme this role does not meet the criteria to be sponsored for a Skilled Worker Route application.  We are looking for people who can help us deliver our mission of transforming lives through inspired teaching and research, through our values. We are committed to building a strong, diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We particularly encourage applications from [protected characteristic(s)], who are currently under-represented within the University of Greenwich at these levels/within these areas. We do this through taking positive action such as encouraging applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled and LGBT+ people. As part of our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Time to Change Employer Pledge/Mentally Healthy Universities, we are committed to promoting and supporting the physical and mental health of all our staff, and removing barriers to improve inclusion.  We encourage applicants to disclose experience of mental health problems so we can support them fully during our recruitment process and make any necessary reasonable adjustments. Any information disclosed will be kept confidential and separate from the job application form.  We are making significant strides to understand and continuously improve our employees’ experience and we are committed to implementing progressive diversity talent management.
