Are you keen to join a great team and use your skills and knowledge to benefit others?
We're looking to appoint a Support Officer to join our dynamic Domestic Abuse team in North and South Kent.
We're looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who's able to work on their own initiative. You'll need to be adaptable, detail-oriented, and a great team player with a good sense of humour. You'll actively and regularly engage with adult victim/survivors of Domestic Abuse who are seeking support or advice via our DA Helpline service. Whilst being available across local communities, the helpline service will also focus on engaging with people who have protected characteristics and multiple complex needs. This will include 16&17-year-old victims, local BAME and LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities, male victims and older adults as well as with the specialist agencies who support these groups.
As a team member responsible for managing enquiries to our Domestic Abuse helpline, you will be required to perform the following tasks:
- Assessing the needs of the caller and completing DASH risk assessments to determine the level of risk involved.
- Signposting the caller to other agencies based on their specific needs.
- Liaising promptly with the IDVA service in cases where the caller presents a high risk.
- Coordinating with refuge and outreach teams, KIDAS partners, and other service providers to ensure that the client has access to the most appropriate support.
- Engaging and linking clients to translation and interpreting services as required.
- Responding to enquiries to Clarions dedicated DA mailbox.
- Raising awareness about Domestic Abuse within the local community and among professionals to improve their understanding of how and where victim/survivors can access trusted specialist help.
- Delivering targeted promotional and publicity information/awareness raising with the above groups to improve understanding of and accessibility to the service.
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of the social care sector and relevant legislation, including Domestic Abuse and housing/homelessness. They should also have demonstrable experience of working in a social care or housing-related support service. The candidate should be able to work proactively as part of a team and have a 'can do', positive attitude. Excellent communication skills are a must, and you should be able to advocate effectively on behalf of customers. You should have an exceptional approach to customer service, whether it be in writing, face-to-face, or on the telephone, and be able to demonstrate a genuine commitment to exceed customer expectations. Additionally, you should have a good understanding of the needs of customers living in the community.
Don't miss this opportunity to use your skills and knowledge to benefit others by joining our great team!
