The job itself
A Support Worker is required to work with an 18-year-old young man who has ASD ADHD and dyslexia to help and support him to gain confidence in social settings and be aware of his surroundings.
This young man enjoys socialising, going to pubs and concerts. He is also a keen gym goer.
Activities he enjoys are, crazy golf, cinema, bowling arcades. Shopping days out and experiencing new things.
He will require support with time and money management, promote positivity and encourage confidence. He will also require support to learn how to act responsibly.
This young man would benefit from a Support Worker with similar likes and interests.
Whilst caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker, the right attitude and a person-centred approach is more important.
