THE COMPANY
Evolve Housing and Support are a charity providing a range of services to homeless and vulnerable people within London. Providing much more than just a roof - they also offer a place of positive change and growth, enabling people to move on and lead independent lives.
THE ROLE
Fitze Millennium Centre is an 80-bed service for single homeless people aged 18-30 in Crystal Palace.
Our customers come with a range of support needs, such as those associated with mental health, care leaver status, probation and ex-offending, asylum seeking, to name a few. The support for each customer is person-centred and requires creative energy and innovative ideas. This means that no two days are the same and makes for a challenging and exciting place to work.
You will join a lively, supportive, and friendly team to work together to provide as excellent service for our customers as possible.
You will be required to support a caseload of customers to:
- Identify their strengths as part of our asset-based approach and identify their needs, opportunities, rights and responsibilities
- Plan what they want to achieve and take appropriate action
- Take part in activities and opportunities that generate aspiration and confidence
You will act as the link between the people we work with and a range of local authority, community and voluntary sector providers.
37 hrs per week, shifts on a pre-planned rolling rota - 5 /7 days a week including mornings (from 7am), evenings (to 10pm), which also includes mid shifts and weekends.
THE CANDIDATE
As well as having experience of working with vulnerable people, you must have a clear understanding of why people become homeless, and the needs and challenges they face.
You will understand the issues that come with being a young person in a difficult situation and the challenges that this can bring. And you will be willing to stand by the young person to overcome these together.
You will be required to take on a caseload of customers, with responsibility for key working, co-ordinating support packages and proactively ensuring all required tasks and activities are completed.
You will be part of a dedicated and supportive team, and so will need to demonstrate a positive and inclusive approach. You must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and be competent in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel applications.
You will also be passionate about helping people and demonstrating dedication, to develop trust and hope where this may be lacking.
