About the home: Supported Living and Short Breaks Scheme which is in the Symonds Green area of Stevenage, offer social care and support, for up to twenty-five adults with learning disabilities and associated disabilities.
You would support our clients tenants in all areas of living such as personal care, communication, support with medication and health monitoring as required, domestic tasks, meal planning, cooking, paying bills, budgeting, benefits etc. You would also enable the tenant to be supported into the community to carry out any banking and shopping as needed and for social and recreational events. All staff employed are trained to an appropriate level and are expected to treat everyone with dignity and respect.
A 6-bedroom bungalow that requires staff presence across 24 hours and a Waking Night team member. This is a high dependency unit with 6 tenants who have complex needs. All require total care and support in all areas of their daily living. This includes help with personal care, mobility, communication, health needs, eating and drinking including gastro feeding and other daily living needs such as finances, menu planning, shopping, cooking, laundry, appointments and reviews, social activities at home and in the community. Supervision of tenants is required at all times.
Rates of pay are depending on shifts and location.
Your duties will include: -
- Following care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management Plans
- Personal hygiene, bathing and dressing
- Administering medication as required
- Mobility support: moving and handling, hoisting
- Assisting clients with physical therapy exercises
- Assisting with preparing appropriate meals and feeding where required
- Providing social interaction and emotional support
- Household chores, including tidying, cleaning, washing, ironing and shopping
- Paperwork: Handover notes and inform physicians or supervisors of uncommon events
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
Required:-
- This position requires you to complete all mandatory training and an enhanced DBS before being able to undertake any working assignment.
- A minimum of 6 months experience within a similar care setting in the last 2 years
- Be flexible to travel - driving licence and own transport is preferable to get to shifts but is not a necessity.
- Be flexible in your availability - this role is most suited to those who are available most days of the week
- Experience with providing support and care to adults or children
- You must have the right to work within the UK
You must have access to transport to be able to get to the various sites throughout Hertfordshire, including Hemel, Watford, St Albans, Abbots Langley, Bushey, Bishop Stortford, Rickmansworth, Welwyn Garden City, Hoddesdon, Potters Bar, Letchworth and Stevenage.
