Our garden nursery operates seven days a week, offering a variety of plants, events and a welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, our function room hosts various events and our co-workers actively participate in baking and cooking alongside our chef.
Job Role:
As a Support Worker at Kings Hill Nursery, you will work collaboratively with teams of adults with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities, volunteers and staff to support, encourage and empower our co-workers. Your responsibilities will include facilitating various activities, providing assistance in the garden nursery and kitchen and ensuring a positive and inclusive environment for all. This role requires a genuine passion for working with individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities, as well as a willingness to engage in diverse tasks ranging from customer service to horticulture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside adults with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities, volunteers and staff to provide support and encouragement.
- Facilitate activities with people who have learning disabilities and Autism and tasks within the garden nursery, kitchen and function room.
- Assist with occasional planting, kitchen duties and customer service in the nursery shop.
- Demonstrate knowledge or experience in working with individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Commitment to upholding the rights of individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Willingness to learn about the specific needs of individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities, physical and sensory impairments.
- Practice person-centred approaches to support and care.
- Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented environment.
- Exhibit strong communication and customer service skills.
- Possess a good sense of humour and adaptability to diverse working days.
Requirements:
- Experience working with people with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Commitment to advocating for the rights of individuals with Autism and/or Learning Disabilities.
- Willingness to undergo training in areas such as Safeguarding, First Aid, Manual Handling and others.
- Genuine passion for learning about horticulture and plant care, with a willingness to share knowledge with team members and customers.
