Full job description
Residential Child Care Worker
Preferably, 12 months experience within the last 2 years and within a residentalchildcare setting. You will ideally be flexible to work different shift types, including, day, evening, sleepovers and weekend shifts. You must be confident with setting boundaries and be firm in your delivery. The home is looking for consistent staff, so you must be reliable. NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care (children and young people) or equivalent is essential in this role.
Supporting the Needs of Children and Young People
To actively safeguard and promote the welfare of the children/young people.
To report immediately any unsafe practices and conditions.
Actively promote structure, boundaries, and routines within a safe and nurturing environment.
PACE approach, ARC model of care and Team Teach trained would be preferrable.
Provide primary care both on a day-to-day basis and to meet occasional needs such as health care appointments
Provide a positive role model for young people
Working directly with young people in accordance with agreed strategies(e.g. anger management, self-esteem
Manage behaviour in an assertive and positive manner
Personal Development and Team Membership
To work as part of a team in the workplace in conjunction with the organisation’s policies and procedures
Undertake relevant training programmes as required by governing regulation, guidance, and the Company.
Always promote and ensure anti-discriminatory practices
Attend and participate in supervision and staff meetings as required by governing regulations.
Work in partnership and develop professional working relationships with colleagues, other agencies and professionals to meet the needs of young people and their families.
To show a willingness to undertake appropriate training as part of overall professional development
To carry out any other reasonable and relevant duties as required.
Regulatory and Administrative
Adhering to policies, procedures, home routines and team decisions
To work in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, other statutory guidance, and co-operate with any inspection process.
Work in line with young peoples’ care and placement plans.
Complete and maintain administrative records as required by the home.
The work of Carehome ltd is both varied and challenging which results in some unpredictable circumstances. There is an integral need for all employees to be flexible in response to situations that arise outside of this job description. Additional duties will most likely be required to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work that maintain staff activity and quality of service provision.
