My client is a leading National Contractor based in Manchester, delivering construction projects from inception to completion. Established over 20 years ago, they are a principal contractor, as well as providing construction services to large contractors.
Due to a complete review of the business, they are looking to implement measures to record and reduce their carbon footprint etc. thus they are looking to bring on a Sustainability Manager.
Job Title: Sustainability Manager
Location: Manchester
Rate: £45,000- 65,000 DEO (negotiable for the right person)

The Role
To manage the delivery of the sustainability strategy and client requirements on projects across the UK.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills.
- Provide sound and industry leading advise to project stakeholders.
- Assist the Head of Sustainability in the consistent roll out of company strategy and expectations within Guidance etc.
- Engage with Business Unit Managing Director(s) supporting development and delivery of business unit strategy.
- Conduct Sustainability Management System Audits of workplaces at a frequency and with the intrusiveness
- Managing and coordinating the delivery of sustainability inspections across workplaces.
- Facilitate external audits by certification bodies.
- Attend sites following environmental incidents and assist with the investigation. In the absence of the Project Director lead the investigation.
- Liaise with enforcement authorities if they attend site on routine visits or to investigate following an incident.
- Carry out trend analysis for inspection/ audit findings and incidents to address trends and recurring issues.
The Candidate:
- At least 5 years environmental experience in a construction environment or similar
- Full relevant driver’s licence and flexibility to travel.
- Be influential.
- Good IT skills.
- Be inquisitive in root cause outcomes.
- Lead on improvement initiatives.
- Effective and confident training provider.
- Time Management and organisational skills
- Communication skills, both written and oral
- Interpersonal and engagement skills
- Assertiveness.
