Sustainable Rail Programme Manager

Overview

The Sustainable Rail Programme Manager will play a crucial part in the future success of the RSSB Sustainable Development team and the progress of Sustainable Rail Blueprint delivery.

Working across the Sustainable Rail workstreams, technical projects and industry groups, the Sustainable Rail Programme Manager will coordinate the Sustainable Rail Programme. The successful candidate will have full visibility of activities underway and proposed and work with the team to plan, report and communicate, including scheduling events and groups to best effect.

The first port of call for general enquiries about RSSB Sustainable Rail Programme, both internally and from external colleagues, the Sustainable Rail Programme Manager will assess the potential follow up, discuss with the team, and ensure actioned through to satisfactory close-out.

Responsibilities

  • Organise and prepare – with input from technical team – periodic reports and sharing of forward plans with DfT, members, and other stakeholders as needed on the Sustainable Rail Programme.
  • Management of stakeholder mapping to maximise industry engagement and sharing of good practice.
  • Work closely with the Industry Group Managers to improve the productivity of the Sustainable Rail groups, following up actions and ensuring the forward agendas are populated with progressive debates directed by the technical team.
  • Work closely with the technical team and Project Managers to ensure that project progress and completion is well communicated and that benefits of projects are fully realised.
  • Establish and maintain up to date plans on behalf of the team, tracking actions and scheduling follow up including engagement meetings alongside BD&E colleagues.
  • Enable high-quality promotion of the work of the team, maintaining the team communications grid and collating materials for publication showcasing the work of the Sustainable Rail Programme.
  • Assist with design, scheduling and delivery of Sustainable Rail Programme events and webinars.
  • Maintain the Sustainable Development public webpages, providing updated materials for publication.
  • Act as the first point of call to assess and direct general enquiries received by the company on Sustainable Rail programme activities.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of, and interest in, sustainable development issues and responses within and outside the railway industry.
  • Experienced at managing stakeholders at all levels and across multiple disciplines.
  • Project Management expertise.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office apps.
  • Communicate effectively and share thoughts and ideas through methods appropriate to the audience.
  • Adapt and respond effectively when embracing new opportunities, change and in navigating uncertainty.
  • Actively contribute as part of a team and work towards achieving team goals and outcomes.
  • Take responsibility and demonstrate accountability in completing tasks and achieving objectives, actively seeking to resolve problems and identify opportunities.
  • Committed to customer service and placing customer satisfaction at the heart of our success to ensure we deliver against our shared goals.
  • Can work collaboratively within an evolving industry, gaining stakeholder confidence through understanding their goals and motivations and demonstrating credibility as an expert.
