Our client, a large government customer, are seeking a Systems Engineer (Trial Planning) to join their team. The role is based in Bristol; it’s a hybrid role with expected travel to Bristol site at least once per week. The role requires SC clearance and candidates must be sole UK nationals.
Initial contracts are scheduled to run until 30/09/2024 and offer a rate up to £530/day
IR35 STATUS: Inside IR35. Our client has indicated that they intend to operate the engagement as Inside IR35. Candidates would be required to operate through an umbrella company on this engagement. The rates above represent rate payable to the umbrella co.

Specific Responsibilities
- Lead the Systems Integration tasks delivering the outputs on contract.
- Attend monthly progress meetings with the supplier as well as meetings with the Contractor and track actions to closure.
- Ensure the outputs enable the System to function to its full capacity, if there are any deltas this is to be highlighted and a solution presented to work towards.
- Assist with scope change, this will involve reviewing assumptions, exclusions, and dependencies.
- Require visits to other sites to liaise with the Integration Authority and Systems Integration Support Services.
- Management of Project Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (AR&M) Programmes.
- The assignee shall assume responsibilities for supporting the Contractor’s development of the AR&M document suite to reach a suitable state for acceptance that the Authority’s R&M requirements will be met, with a progressively delivered and assured body of evidence to substantiate all AR&M claims.
- As well as other roles as described by the Project Lead.
General Team Responsibilities
- Lead system integration and installation activities, engaging with key stakeholders including the Supplier, Surface Ship Systems Group, Integration Authority (IA), Platform Authorities and third-party suppliers of System Equipment to facilitate the scoping, definition, development of proposals and agreement of activities and updates required to Shared Infrastructure (SI), Ships Services, Management Systems and Ships Structure. This is to enable integration/installation of programme capability in accordance with ships process.
- Engage in Contractor Design and Development activities, manage Interface Control documentation, Service Definitions and Ships System Integration issues to ensure compliance of suppliers with relevant Statements of Work(s).
- Experience of Systems Engineering.
- Promote Open systems standards and act as an active member of the Design Authority.
- Assist with the production, acceptance, and resultant configuration control of an requirements acceptance procedure (Verification, Validation Requirements Matrix (VVRM) created by industry in accordance with an agreed Integrated Trials Evaluation & Acceptance Plan (ITEAP).
- Develop System Architectures, requirement definition documents and generate technical specifications across programmes.
- Monitor, manage, and report technology and technical risk on the projects.
- Challenge technical assumptions to identify improvement opportunities.
- Experience in managing complex interdependencies with multiple other programmes.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ability to manage staff.
- Demonstrate creative and innovative thinking to find solutions to technical challenges.
Skills and Experience
- Recent knowledge and experience, along with similar background with Trial Planning and equipment acceptance would be advantageous.
- SC Cleared as a minimum and ability to travel to customer sites and Bristol site.
Candidate Eligibility
Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK, this role will not offer Visa sponsorship. Tier 2 – General visas cannot be accepted.
