Job description

Are you a tech-savvy professional with a knack for optimising internal systems to streamline processes and drive efficiency? We’re looking for a Systems Operations Manager to join our close-knit team at Canvas8.

Whether you've excelled as an operational manager or gained experience in product management for internal systems, we believe your skills are exactly what we’re looking for. As a Systems Operations Manager, you’ll be the backbone of our organisational success. You'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in leveraging technology to enhance our operational excellence and foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within our organisation. Your visionary outlook will be instrumental in sourcing cutting-edge solutions and refining our systems. In return, you'll be welcomed into a rewarding environment where your talents are valued, and you'll have the autonomy to make a real impact.

About us

We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, NYC, LA, and Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions.

Our work is about investigating the hidden insights in everyday life – from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals and why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing – and making them meaningful for brands. Our team is a blend of disciplines and skills, from psychology to journalism and anthropology to behavioural economics. What unites us is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.

About the role

As a Systems Operations Manager, you'll have the opportunity to significantly impact how we operate. You'll be at the forefront of driving process changes across the business and the go-to person for implementing new systems, working closely alongside all of our teams. Leveraging data-driven insights, you’ll inform decision-making processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards throughout our operations.

Your relationship to Canvas8’s systems will vary. For some, you’ll act as the day-to-day owner and product manager; for others, you’ll facilitate the handover to the appropriate stakeholders once they’re up and running. Your role will involve taking the lead in product design, user experience, and process design for our in-house systems and collaborating with our third-party account managers to ensure optimal return on investment from our partnerships.

You'll oversee the entire lifecycle of our technology contracts, from negotiation to renewal, while also playing a pivotal role in developing product design, pricing, and positioning strategies. Guided by your deep understanding of our business needs, you’ll select the most suitable products and services, ensuring seamless integration and maximising efficiency.

The day-to-day

  • Owning all internal Canvas8 products, systems, and suppliers
  • Overseeing the development lifecycle of systems and products from conceptualisation to implementation and post-roll-out adoption
  • Day-to-day bug fixing and providing support for key Canvas8 systems like Hubspot and our custom-built user-management system and accounts-payable platform
  • Liaising with stakeholders to understand their processes and requirements
  • Partnering with our Development team to design and ensure the quality of Canvas8-owned and Canvas8-developed systems
  • Managing growth projects, including elevations of existing systems
  • Leading breakaway projects for new system scoping
  • Proactively identifying business challenges and advocating for system improvements to enhance efficiency
  • Mentoring junior members of the team

About you

We’re looking for someone who’s naturally inclined to explore, question, and seek deeper insights into the workings of systems and operations. If you’re looking for new growth opportunities and aren’t afraid to delve into unfamiliar territory to expand your knowledge, this role is for you. Your curiosity, coupled with a relentless drive to understand the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind processes, will drive your success.

Your tech-savvy mindset sets you apart, enabling you to leverage technology to streamline operations and drive innovation. From implementing cutting-edge systems to optimising existing processes, you thrive on finding technological solutions that enhance productivity and effectiveness. Your deep understanding of technology will be instrumental in shaping our technological landscape and keeping Canvas8 at the forefront of industry advancements.

Your ability to build and nurture strong supplier relationships is unparalleled. You excel in negotiating contracts, fostering partnerships, and ensuring seamless communication between internal teams and external suppliers. Your analytical mindset and proactive approach enable you to anticipate challenges, seize opportunities, and drive strategic initiatives forward.

As a self-starter, you possess the initiative and drive to take ownership of tasks and projects and ensure they’re completed with excellence. Your problem-solving abilities enable you to tackle challenges head-on, finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Organised and detail-oriented, you thrive in environments where precision and order are paramount.
