Teaching Assistant - 5 Mornings A Week

Sevenoaks Preparatory School is looking for an enthusiastic and committed Teaching Assistant to support our experienced teachers in securing the excellent progress and well-being of students. Join our friendly and lively team and provide a warm and nurturing environment for our children. This position is for five mornings 8.00am to 1.00pm on a Monday and a Friday, term time only and will be with Key Stage 2 pupils between the ages of 8 and 10.

Purpose:

To promote and act in accordance with the ethos of Sevenoaks Prep’s “Way of Life”, its aims and objectives. The successful candidate must have safeguarding of children as their priority.

Responsible to:

The Class teacher with whom you will meet regularly to agree classroom provision, lesson plans and supervision of the children.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

To support the class teacher in planning and preparing lessons and activities with clear objectives.

Deliver targeted interventions in one to one or small group settings as directed by the teacher and / or Head of Learning Support.

Organise the classroom and learning resources as per the teacher’s instructions, and to create a positive, tidy and orderly learning environment.

To encourage and motivate pupils whether in the wider classroom setting, small groups or as individuals.

Assist the class teacher to guide and motivate pupils towards their potential, preparing them for exams and challenges where appropriate.

Instil and monitor standards of behaviour and manners where there is respect of one another.

Co-ordinate activities and resources within specific areas of the curriculum, supporting colleagues in the delivery of this specialist area;

Participate in staff meetings and playground duties. Take part in various in house or external training.

Liaise with colleagues, working flexibility to support each other and working as a team.

Take part where possible in class events, plays, recitals, trips and fund raising activities that benefit the wider school community.
