Star Central, which is based at our head office in Blackburn, Lancashire, provides leadership, strategic direction and support to Star Academies, Star Institute and our schools. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work with a dynamic and ambitious team of senior leaders through the newly designated Star Teaching School Hub (TSH) in Birmingham South. The Hub supports the DfE’s recruitment and retention strategy by delivering highly effective training and development to schools. We are looking for an experienced leader with an excellent understanding of the education landscape and strong local knowledge who can grow school engagement for the TSH’s ‘Golden Thread’ offer of Initial Teacher Education, Early Career Framework programme, National Professional Qualifications and Appropriate Body Service. Through a commitment to the transformative value of professional development, the TSH Lead should be able to contribute to the local school improvement strategy in Birmingham, positioning the TSH as a facility for improving the performance of teachers and leaders. This will include participating in networks at local, regional and national levels, successfully integrating the programmes and services into the professional development of schools and MATs, continually providing opportunities for them to engage with the TSH and its Lead Provider the National Institute of Teaching.
The position would appeal to an enthusiastic, engaging and articulate leader who can think strategically and apply national initiatives to a local context. You will be working for one of the highest performing multi-academy trusts in the country with 20,00 pupils in over 31 schools.
Who we’re looking for: You will provide operational capacity and strategic direction, utilising the skills and experience needed to establish and build engagement with the TSH. Through excellent verbal and written communication skills you will be able to effectively engage a broad range of stakeholders and promote the programmes and services offered. You will have a thorough working knowledge of ITT, ECF and NPQ provision as well as the requirements of ECT induction assessment. Working effectively as a part of a local and national team you should also be able to work independently, be able to facilitate training, chair meetings and organise and deliver conferences and promotional events. The successful candidate will be able to prioritise a busy workload to consistently meet deadlines.
