The role
As a Team Lead - Explosives Compliance and Assurance, you will be responsible for the maintenance strategy of all UKD explosives and firearms facilities and the licencing strategy. The strategy is to include liaison with key stakeholders within the domain, encompassing both current and future business requirements in line with QinetiQ’s growth and business winning ambitions. In addition, the role will provide expert technical support on investment projects and remediation plans in line with OF instructions, Explosive Regulations 2014 and Firearms Act 1968.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:
Ensuring all explosives and firearms facilities are compliant with Explosives Regulations 2014, Firearms Act 1968 and OF instructions.
Developing and lead the implementation of the explosives licencing strategy.
Developing and lead the 1st Line Assurance programme across all relevant QQ sites.
Liaising with Property Operations to develop and roll out an effective facility maintenance strategy, in order to meet regulatory, operational and safety requirements
Developing and co-ordinate the OME and Firearms stockpile management strategy
Provision of expert advice to relevant UK Defence Investment Projects & IDTs.
Occasionally you'll be required to investigate technical safety incidents, OME performance failures or trending concerns, drafting reports to include recommended actions or novel solutions to address the root causes as required.
The successful candidate can be based at any UK QinetiQ site in line with role requirements and personal preference. Frequent travel and overnight stays will be required across the spectrum of QinetiQ ranges in order to deliver the outputs of the role effectively.
Essential experience of the Team Lead - Explosives Compliance and Assurance
Expert technical experience of the explosives and firearms discipline.
Expert knowledge of the appropriate regulatory frameworks.
