Job description

We're looking for a kind, compassionate and resilient Team Leader to join our Mental Health service in Newham.

£28,668.00 per annum, working 40 hours per week. Benefits include 25 days Annual Leave, pension schemes, staff discounts, healthcare and career progression.

The Newham Mental Health Team is based at Flying Angel and supports customers in the building but also in the community. The service operates Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, with customers who have low to medium support needs. We work in partnership with other professionals to support our customers who have multiple complex needs. The service works as a team, but we expect staff to manage their own caseload. The service provides Housing Related Support hours which is on a spot purchase basis, so the support hours can vary from customer to customer and staff are expected to participate in a wide variety of activities to help customers learn to live more independent lives and develop skills for life.

The service we offer is to provide a safe, stable and supportive environment to enable customers to live with privacy, dignity and equality of opportunity. The service aims to reflect the needs and aspirations of people with Mental Health. This will be achieved through the active and regular involvement of customers and relevant agencies in determining what services are offered and how these are delivered, in line with valuing them.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

- Be based at Flying Angel and lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service
- Deliver effective supervision and team meetings with staff and ensure that information, reporting and communication
- Responsible for the personal development of staff, identifying high performers and feeding into the organisations succession plans
- Ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) required as part of the Contract are met and recorded correctly
- Develop key business relationships with all appropriate relevant customers/external parties to ensure service delivery excellence and maximise new business opportunities in own patch in Newham.
- Participate in and monitor the initial and continuous assessment of needs and ensure that support planning is carried out in line with assessed needs of the customer
- Carry out other administrative tasks as relevant to the service and directed by the Contract/Heads of Operations
- Deliver an out of hours on-call service for region, where required
- Ensure that all safeguarding cases are managed in line with safeguarding protocols and are reported to Contract Manager/Head of Operations, as appropriate

What you'll bring:

Essential:

- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Experience of working with customers affected by mental health and learning disabilities.

Desirable:

- Other relevant professional memberships and/or specialist qualifications are desirable
