You will manage a team of Defined Benefits pension Claims Administrators who are responsible for maintaining scheme data and administering all aspects of the retirements journey processing, including complex manual calculations, from quotation to settlement in an efficient, effective and empathetic manner. Ensuring excellent customer outcomes are achieved at every step.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensuring the team is providing an efficient defined benefits pensions claims service to individual scheme members and their representatives and intermediaries, by ensuring the work is allocated and completed in an accurate and timely fashion, and in line with the EG guidelines.

  • Managing and developing the risk controls, business processes and detailed documentation for all aspects of the retirement claims process to ensure that we meet the regulatory obligations and maintain the integrity of Client Services, PRT.

  • Managing, motivating and developing employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the company's policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.

  • Managing the oversight of checking individual defined benefits pensions quotations, potentially including manual calculations and ensuring that documents/letters and statements are correct and that L&G is protected from any additional payments or cost above those for which the Society is liable. Where necessary to oversee the amendment of appropriate computer systems to meet the demands of non-standard schemes.

  • Acting as technical expert for all Defined Benefits pensions retirement administration teams, acting as the focal point for queries and having responsibility for interpreting and keeping up to date with current pensions legislation and HMRC practice.

  • Ensuring that all processes are created and followed to allow a full audit trail throughout the lifecycle of customer queries. This will help to ensure that best practice is being maintained across the team.

  • Analysing feedback from all sources to ensure that customers’ reasonable expectations of performance and service are met and where failings are identified, provide information to relevant areas to enable changes to be made.

  • Ensuring Treating customer fairly principles are applied in the day to day running of the team. Paying special attention to potential customer vulnerabilities and ensure that team members work toward the VC strategies.


Qualifications


With strong leadership skills, you will have successfully managed a team of up to 8 members and be confident in helping them to reach their career goals.

Highly customer focused and able to maintain and improve relationships with both internal and external customers, you’ll have a good understanding of the Financial Services marketplace.

You’ll also have a strong understanding of the risks to your team, PRT and the business and actively take steps to reduce these risks.

You won’t need any formal qualifications, but we’ll support you to gain CII, CF1 and FA2 qualification passes within the first 2 years of the role. We’ll also support you to gain Overseer status through training and competence sign off within the same timeframe.

Ideally, you’ll have knowledge of the following legislation and remains compliant:

  • Data Protection Act
  • Money Laundering
  • Complaints
  • Treating Customers Fairly
  • Breach guidelines
