This is a great opportunity to work with one of the leading timber consultancies in the UK. You will be working within a highly respected team where a variety of work is on offer. No two days are the same with projects ranging from heritage buildings, timber bridges and viaducts, to trouble shooting defects in newly installed products.
Responsibilities:
- To undertake timber investigations, laboratory work, site inspection work and report on results
- Gather relevant site based evidence from investigative work onsite and from documentation and background information provided
- Offering technical advice and responding to enquiries, by phone and in person
- Building and maintaining relationships with project engineers and architects
- Provide independent, impartial advice in disputes
- Assist the marketing and publications department with input for technical information documents
- Deliver a range of timber related training courses for individuals and organisations
- Assess quality standards and advise on improvements
- Ensuring that equipment (laboratory or tools) is maintained to ensure safety and quality is not compromised
- Ensuring that tests are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate test standard
- Follow the relevant procedures where activities are controlled by the Quality Management System
- Demonstrable experience in practical / technical subjects relating to the timber industry or construction (eg Sustainability, Building Surveying, Heritage, Infrastructure)
- Preference for a degree qualified individual or qualification in a relevant discipline

- Strong communication skills
- Comfortable with working at heights
- Demonstrates good understanding of BS and EU standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to explain technical terms / issues / concepts clearly
- An eye for detail and be able to communicate thoughts and ideas.
- Excellent time management skills, and be able to manage your own diary
- Current and Valid Driving License
- Ideally based in Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire or the Home Counties
