Technical Lead

We are in search of a Technical Lead who has a wide knowledge and understanding of IT Systems with a solid technical understanding of the underlying Infrastructure, Networks and Applications and how they connect and integrate with other systems.

The outstanding candidate will possess a firm understanding of Systems Engineering with an emphasis on how best to design, integrate and manage complex systems.

You will be immersed in one of our key programmes, on behalf of one of our high-profile clients, and will work closely with our Chief Engineer, Project Managers, Architects, Developers and Infrastructure & Network Teams to impact assess new RFC’s and Changes.

You will have the opportunity to liaise with our client to gather and refine requirements and ensure the technical solutions which Leidos deliver is both fit-for-purpose and meets the clients’ needs and expectations.

What will I be doing?
 

  • You will be an integral member of a high-performing team to deliver IT services and solutions to a central government agency.
  • You will provide cross-functional collaboration; both within the business, and with our client; providing technical expertise on complex projects, change requests and impact assessments.
  • You will apply Systems Engineering knowledge and understanding to on-premise & cloud hosted systems.
  • You will work closely with Project Managers to clearly define the technical scope of bodies of work.
  • You will Impact assess any new Changes and RFCs which come through from the client.
  • You will clarify and agree functional and non-functional requirements with the client and input them into our Yogi tool.
  • You will call out any known or perceived risks, issues, and dependencies.

What Does Leidos Need From Me?

This role requires someone with a proven technical background in on-premise infrastructure solutions coupled with an understanding of the Systems Engineering development lifecycle.

The ideal technical requirements we are looking for include:

  • Familiarity with On-Premise Infrastructure solutions, e.g. VMWare ESXI, SAN Storage.
  • Familiarity with WAN’s, LAN’s and networking design.
  • Familiarity with Cloud-based solutions, ideally AWS.
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment and have extensive experience using JIRA and Confluence.
  • Liaising with team members, project managers, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.
  • Knowledge of TOGAF/MODAF.
  • Bid, Pre-sales or pre-contract award experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.

Desirable Systems Engineering knowledge:

  • Identifying risks and issues and forming contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Have demonstrable knowledge and experience of applying the development lifecycle, requirements management & design.
  • Possess an understanding of the INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook.
  • Be experienced with Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • You must have demonstrable knowledge and experience of performing Trade Studies, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Having a solid foundation in security principles and practices is essential.
     

Professional Experience:
 

  • You must be customer-centric, proactive, able to take ownership of a problem and work it through to resolution.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Possess a flexible approach to working, be good at multi-tasking and working on difference bodies of work.
  • Be able to identify & implement process improvements.
  • You must have proven Technical Leadership skills, for example:
    • Have some form of team lead or Technical Lead experience.
    • Provide inputs based on expertise, across the delivery lifecycle.
    • Be able to share your knowledge and experience with others more junior.
    • Be comfortable and competent explaining technical issues to clients and senior leaders.
    • Be able to review and provide comments on technical documentation.
    • Take ownership of technical issues and problems and use delegation skills to break up bodies of work to collaboratively resolve issues as part of a team.
    • Work well with other Technical and Non-Technical stakeholders.


Security Clearance Required:
 

Due to the nature of the project, this role will require the individual be a UK National and possess or be able to obtain SC clearance.
