This role will lead the Technical Training team and the training administration team.The Technical Training team provide a range of health and safety, mandatory technical and skills development courses to Speedy colleagues. The training administration team provide training advice and admin support to our managers and colleagues as well as running, maintaining, and populating our Learning Management System (People Fluent).The successful post-holder will ultimately focus on moving the function to a best-in-class service, ensuring the business has the required skills and knowledge that training is delivered when and where required in the most cost-effective way.The main purpose of this role will be to lead and manage the Academy team in delivering a comprehensive programme of technical and mandatory training activity that supports the business strategy and ensures the safety of our employees and customers.What you’ll be doingResponsible for the effective operation and performance of the Academy team.Monitoring and assessing the quality of delivery and ensuring key metrics (i.e. trainer utilisation) are achieved. Scheduling training to meet the demands of the business, using all technical trainer and TAQA assessors’ resources to provide efficient solutions.Managing the competency framework in business specific and support functions.Manage the Academy budget with responsibility for forecasting and budgeting within agreed parameters.Manage the relationship with CITB and ensure all levies and returns are executed in a timely manner.Managing succession planning activities.Ensuring highest standards of internal customer experience are practised. Ensuring that courses delivered meet at least minimum technical legal requirements.Providing technical expertise to the technical trainers and to the business. Ensure mandatory training is delivered in the most cost effective and efficient way, whilst maintaining compliance to legislative and internal standards of competence.Manage the compliance across the business, providing suggestions and solutions to continually improve. Designing and delivering high impact development interventions as required in conjunction with experts from the business.Manage external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training and development to appropriate standards.Monitor quality of delivery and return on investment (ROI).Managing the budget for specific development programmes, ensuring cost effective interventions are developed and ROI is measured.Utilise and develop the e-learning offering in relation to management and leadership development.Monitoring the performance of the team and ensure adherence of all company procedures, regulations, and standards.Ensuring that course content is fit for purpose, updated regularly and when there is legislation changes.Any other reasonable duties.EssentialTraining professional/expertExperience of managing trainers and AssessorsExperience of designing and delivering engaging Technical Training coursesCIPD qualified or equivalentExperience of managing a Learning Management SystemDesirableIOSH or other H&S qualificationILM qualification or equivalent A background in engineering or construction in a service led, multi-site environment.What we offer:Overtime available where required and agreed.Free onsite parking Canteen facilities26 days holiday (plus bank holidays)Life assurancePension Scheme95% discount across the Speedy brand.My Staff Shop: discounts and offers for shopping etc. across many suppliers. Green Commute Initiative: Work scheme for cycling Vita – Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Offers free and confidential support and counselling to help you through matters such as wellbeing, divorce, legal, and financial management.Speedy offer a Career Line of Sight which enables a detailed understanding of the route to progression and growth within the Speedy Group.Please be aware Speedy reserves the right to close our vacancies earlier than the listed date if we have received a high level of applications.
