Key Duties & Responsibilities
As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following:
- Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standard.
- Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects. Including the Incident, close call, near miss reporting.
- Install, splice and test optical fibre.
- Install terminate and test lineside copper cable.
- Install railway telecoms equipment & racks associated with project build.
- IP network deployment & testing.
- Ability to interpret and implement technical designs – Familiar with TENE.
- Support projects at mobilisation & demobilisation of sites.
- Support the Project Engineer by providing all installation documents – ITPs.
- Maintain an engineering logbook.
- Support projects by maintaining & providing as built information.
- Incident, close call, near miss reporting.
- The quality of installation of assets onto the Rail infrastructure.
- Ensure that that the potential for design change is notified to the project engineer at the earliest opportunity to allow the CRE/designer to review and provide alternatives.
- Coach and mentor junior staff for testing & Installation activities.
Essential Attributes & Skills
- Relevant trade/construction experience.
- Driving Licence
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Project safety management experience.
- Working knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
- Basic IT skills linked to good document management.
- SISS systems installation & awareness
- Fibre Optics install, jointing and testing.
- Copper cabling install and testing
- Telecoms equipment installation
- DC Electrical Installation
- FTN/x Installation
Desirable Attributes & Skills
- Good understanding of IP networks deployment
- COSS qualified

Monday to Friday, could include weekend working
