30 hours per week – 9am to 5pm, any day including some weekends

We’re seeking a Bank Support Assistant to make a real difference to the lives of our customers at Byron Road. Our Bank Support Assistants provide a high-quality person centred care and support service, encouraging our customers to develop the skills necessary for independent living.
Set in the city of Sheffield, Byron Road has nine rooms in a shared house. We provide support for adults aged 18 and over, with a range of mental health needs and learning disabilities, encouraging them to develop their skills and live as independently as possible.
If you want to work closely with customers, helping them to build their confidence to live their lives their way this is a rewarding opportunity to come and work within an established and experienced team.
We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training to develop new and existing skills and encourage progression.

The role of Support Assistant will include:
- Providing a high quality, hands-on, personalised support service
- Supporting our customers to live as independently as possible
- Ensuring that customers are supported by developing their daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and being part of their community
- Working with colleagues and partner agencies to achieve the best outcome for our customers
- Maintaining a safe environment for customers, providing support in accordance with relevant regulations, procedures and practices
Skills and experiences:
- Ideally you will have experience of working with vulnerable people however candidates with enthusiasm, a real passion for the role and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply
- A caring, approachable nature allowing you to form positive relationships with people
- You will be empathetic and non-judgmental with a positive approach to managing challenging behaviour
- Initiative and assertiveness will also be key to your success, as you will be required to source innovative solutions to enable customers’ independence to be maximized
- NVQ2 in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards is desirable
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational, listening and time management skills
