Salary: £23,893 - £25,979 per annum (Grade 3)

Hours: 36.66 per week

Based: Sir Robert Peacock House, Vulcan St, Oldham, OL1 4LA and other sites

Role Overview:

  • To be part of the Licensing Team which administers and enforces relevant legislation. The post holder will work as part of a team and learn the skills necessary to ensure compliance.
  • To undertake and successfully complete training against an appropriate Apprenticeship Standard and any other training as part of the role, which will be delivered by approved training providers

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist the licensing team in carrying out compliance work, including investigations of complaints, compliance checks and audits on the full range of licensing functions, to carry out quality control checks on licences being issued prior to them being handed out, to deliver training to new applicants and hold knowledge test sessions.
  • To undertake and successfully complete all required training, including the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer apprenticeship standard. Further Licensing specific training would be required including the Award for Personal Licence Holders and the Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification.
  • Appropriately apply technical knowledge and experience of compliance to real world situations.
  • Assist officers in taking appropriate formal and informal enforcement action, and give advice, to achieve compliance, in line with relevant council policies and procedures and Licensing legislation.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills of a standard necessary to fulfil the obligations of the post.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with the public, businesses, other staff, and management either face to face, by telephone, through e-mails, presentations, reports, or letters etc.
  • Ability to use own initiative, prioritise and manage workload over extended periods, producing accurate work within deadlines
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and to work proficiently on computer-based systems and databases.
