Trainee/Apprentice Woodworking Machinist

Illingworth Ingham (M/cr) Ltd have been in business since 1929. We are an independent family run Timber Importer & Timber Merchant and have continued to be a successful business within the timber industry for nearly 100 years. With prospective growth plans for the future, we now have a requirement to develop our next generation of expert wood machinists. We have one of the largest production mills in the country, and are renowned for our quality and performance.

This role would be ideal for a college leaver or an individual with a desire to start their career in wood machining. If you’re looking for an opportunity to learn a new skill set and a career within the Timber industry that offers progression and longevity, then this is the role for you.

What will I be doing in this role?

Your Apprenticeship program: Level 2 Standard in Wood Machining (Approx Duration: 18 months)

As an apprentice Wood Machinist, you will be following a comprehensive training programme which offers training in a variety of areas in the wood machining industry. (For more details follow the link below)

This is a highly skilled job which will involve setting up and operating a wide range of woodworking machines. These will include: cross cut saws, band saws, spindles, CNC Weinig Moulding Machines, Profile Grinders etc.

You will be responsible for the basic maintenance of all the machines you have received training on, which will include changing cutters, saws and blades, lubricating and cleaning tools. You will be trained to set the machines to fine tolerances.

Your training will be made up of a combination of on the job, in house training, and assistance from our external apprentice team that will ensure you stay up to date with your coursework and progress through the course. You will be part of an in-house buddy system, paired with one of our experienced machinists to assist you in your progression.

Once qualified you will work as a machinist within our production mill, machining timber products for our customers and our branch network.

Hours

  • Monday to Thursday 07.15am – 4:30pm
  • Friday 07.45am – 1:45pm
