Job description

To communicate complex information to large groups including externalorganisations for example the Institute of Biomedical Science, Health Education England, and National School of Healthcare Science and to maintain associated training status. To effectively communicate and clearly with trainees, training officers, operational service managers, clinicians, directorate and divisional managers. Occasionally this information can be extremely sensitive or contentious Programme Management of training, Education and Development in the directorate of LCL Creation, implementation, and adherence to LCL education, training and Development policy To develop, review and update training and Development plans and all associated procedures Solely responsible for training reports, logs and training matrix on Q-pulse electronic document system To implement, co-ordinate and monitor the system(s) of maintaining training and competence records To contribute to the maintenance and monitoring system for ensuring staff compliance with Statutory and Mandatory training To maintain and monitor system for ensuring compliance with the requirements of national educational bodies such as the national school of healthcare science and academy of healthcare science To ensure compliance of people in training with the requirements of national professional bodies such as the Royal College of Pathologists and the Institute of Biomedical Science To ensure that LCL is accredited by the National School of Healthcare science to host the scientist training programme and higher scientist training programme To ensure that LCL is accredited as a training centre by the Institute of Biomedical Science To ensure that the requirements to meet Statutory and Mandatory training obligations are satisfied To be responsible for the management, maintenance, and continuous development of training and Development plans including oversight of all associated policies, procedures and the training database To provide support and advice to other senior staff on training matters and contribute to the LCL training and personal development strategy. To manage difficult situations with staff as they arise To formulate training plans for trainee clinical scientists and assist clinicians with formulating training plans for higher scientist training To perform general management duties that include, recruitment, appraisal, and H.R. across LCL To shortlist and recruit Clinical Scientists from the National Scientist training programme across multiple departments To conduct training needs analysis across LCL To submit applications for Health Education England training funds based on training needs analysis. To manage the directorate training budget of variable value. To acquire HEE funds for fixed term training posts and other HEE fixed term posts To negotiate for the acquisition of funds for training, development, and education from various external sources To play a key role in shaping the education, training, and Development strategy of the Cheshire and Merseyside Pathology Network Responsible for training, Education and Development audits and surveys and addressing non-conformities across LCL To report training, education, and Development issues in LCL to Trust, departmental and directorate quality and clinical governance levels.To deal with poor performance in training and Development that has an impact on career progression and remuneration, through coaching, negotiation, support and advice To negotiate with candidates and management, timescales, and actions to assist managers and individuals in cases of poor performance/progress with required training and Development To provide advice and support to managers and senior staff in assessment of competence To construct a good working relationship with discipline specific training officers and health care scientist team leaders and ensure that they meet agreed targets, standards and deadlines To have high levels of focus and concentration for the interpretation of internal and external policy and guidance, interaction with personnel, assessment and appraisal of training processes and outcomes
