Job description

British Transport Police (BTP) are looking to recruit current or previous serving Officers to join our Talent Pool for Police Constable covering various locations across our B-North & B-South Subdivisions.

“When I first joined BTP I thought that I’d end up moving on to a Home Office Force as soon as I felt that I couldn’t progress any further. Now, almost 24 years later I’m still here and haven’t regretted putting my faith in BTP! BTP are one of the best kept secrets in policing, offering vast and varied opportunities for development, specialist roles and movement across England, Scotland and Wales. I’ve had the opportunity to work across the UK, in both uniformed and investigative roles and am proud to currently lead our response to Violence and Intimidation Against Women and Girls (VIAWG) – an area of policing where BTP have been recognised for our innovative and ground breaking initiatives.  BTP are a truly caring organisation – with safeguarding the most vulnerable people in society at the forefront of all we do – from suicide prevention, to county lines and VIAWG, we strive to create a hostile environment for offenders, to reduce the likelihood of persons coming to harm. BTP aspire to be a truly inclusive organisation, with many initiatives introduced to encourage applications from a diverse pool of candidates. I have been lucky enough to work with many inspiring colleagues, who strive to do the right thing every day – why not join us?” DCI Nia MELLOR

The British Transport Police offers a supportive and inclusive work environment where you can make a real difference in the communities we serve. Join us and be part of a team committed to safeguarding the public and ensuring a safer railway network for all.

If you're ready to take on this rewarding challenge and contribute to the safety and security of our railways, apply now to join our Talent Pool for Police Constables at BTP.

We look forward to welcoming you to our team!

Why join BTP?

BTP police and protect 10,000 miles of track and 3,000 railway stations every day; a network that is at the heart of Britain's community, commerce and industry. Join us and you’ll be providing specialist policing to a unique community in a unique environment, dealing with rewarding challenges that you won’t find in any other Force.

How to apply?

The recruitment process is simple! Please select the ‘apply’ button below where you will be directed to our application form.

Please note this is a Talent Pool vacancy and successful applicants may not be immediately offered positions with us. We will keep candidates' details on hold for a maximum of 12 months.

When selecting your preferred postings, please ensure that you select only the locations that you are willing to travel to, as you may be posted to any of the locations that you select. There is a B-DIVISON map attached with all of our police locations.
