This role is responsible for the planning, sourcing, and efficient management of the transport function within our clients busiiness.You will direct, manage and plan transport for a large number of events both in the UK and internationally.
- Be responsible for the transport diary across the business.
- Assist Project teams with transport budget setting.
- Ensure you receive all transport related information from Project Management team to agreed time lines, to allow for detailed, accurate & efficient weekly / monthly transport planning.
- Prepare all transport related PO s, check & authorise / challenge invoices as per company policy.
- Manage and direct the planning and booking of all transport requirements for the business both in the UK and internationally always ensuring the most cost effective and efficient delivery methods are employed against pre-agreed budgets.
- Be responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with transport/freight suppliers whilst managing documentation and customs compliance with a view to continuously improving our import/export processes to drive operational excellence.
- Manage on site logistics / transport processes on large / complex projects as required (working away)
- Utilise the agreed processes and systems to manage the transport operation of the business.
- Prepare any required customs paperwork/shipping documentation, letters of instruction and ATA Carnets.
- Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness.
- During periods of activity in the Yard, inspect trailer loads to prevent overloading and ensure loads are legal and compliant.
- Arrange inspection and maintenance of vehicles /trailers according to legal requirements.
- Maintain complete and accurate records for each vehicle in our fleet.
- Manage the procurement and leasing of new vehicles for both transport purposes and for employee company cars within agreed financial frameworks.
- Monitor and arrange any company vehicle tax and MOTs.
- Manage, issue & sign off company fuel cards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of any required new transport process s & policies.
- Facilitate the hire and delivery of cranes, plant and access equipment.
Requirements for the Role
- Full UK driving licence
- knowledge/experience of internation freight
- Have demonstrable & significant previous experience in a Transport Management role.
- Have an up to date understanding of government legislation and safety regulations in the relevant transport sector.
- Previous experience with all aspects of import / export administrative paperwork / processes.
- Working knowledge of HIAB truck capabilities.
- Competent with Microsoft programs, Excel, Word etc
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- A problem solver, with a keen eye for detail / accuracy.
- Be a team player.
