We are currently looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join our Transport Team in Speke, Liverpool.
Working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern 6am – 6pm.
This is a faced paced, high-pressure environment. It will involve managing a fleet of 150 tractor units delivering up to 200 retail deliveries per day plus x-dock & trunking routes from our National Distribution Centre in Speke, our sister sites & outside storage bases.
You will be managing a team of drivers & clerical colleagues motivating the team to ensure the transport operation hits the target.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage a team of drivers and clerical colleagues to ensure that they work within company guidelines in an efficient and professional manner.
- Manage the operation within the daily area of responsibility, managing and motivating the team by giving direction and leadership.
- Monitor performance ensuring the operation achieves high performance levels and the efficient and effective provision of a quality service to stores and the customer.
- Ensure that the transport operation achieves the targeted daily and weekly KPIs.
- Work as part of a flexible team ensuring high levels of service are achieved and that all colleagues within the department are aware of their overall responsibilities with regards to the environment and health and safety. You will challenge poor and promote good health and safety and environmental practices, leading by example.
- Provide the store network with a first-class service.
- Encourage two-way feedback and ideas aimed at improving work practices.
- Ensure the safe delivery of stock to store & the administrative element is maintained to a high standard.
- Ensure that the department complies with Road Traffic Act legislation, EU Drivers Hours Rules & Working Time Directive (RTD).
- Carry out effective, in-depth driver “Pre-Briefs” & “De-Briefs” at the start and end of every driver shift.
- Monitor performance, timekeeping, overtime and sickness levels of drivers and take appropriate action.
- To manage and maintain all yard operations ensuring a team of shunters deliver an efficient and timely shunt/yard function.
- To maintain the Transport Database efficiently with all required information.
- To undertake such additional duties as may be reasonably required for the effective role within the office.
What we need from you:
- Shift Manager experience within a Transport background is essential.
- Will have excellent leadership, team building and motivational skills.
- Previous retail customer experience ideally.
- Must be able to demonstrate energy, flexibility and commitment to succeed in a challenging environment.
