Alderley Park Recruitments client based in the Logistics industry is currently looking to recruit a Shift Manager. This is a permanent role paying a salary of 33,000 - 38,000 dependent on experience with performance based bonus. Our client works on a hybrid working model and splits between site and home working will be agreed with management.
Our client is looking for a Transport Shift Manager to join their team and oversee the daily operations of our transport department.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries are made on time and to the correct location, while managing the team of drivers and transport coordinators.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills, as well as a good knowledge of transport regulations and procedures. You will also need to have a customer-focused approach and a problem-solving attitude.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate customer requirements and ensure customer satisfaction and procedural conformance
- Manage the team of drivers and transport coordinators, ensuring that they are working safely and efficiently
- Support with the recruitment of drivers and induction of new team members to ensure they excel in their job
- Organise and schedule transport staff shifts, ensuring adequate coverage and contingency plans
- Conduct risk assessments of transport systems and implement improvements as needed
- Organise training and development days for transport staff, ensuring that they are up to date with relevant skills and knowledge
- Work out a strategy that factors in customer satisfaction, ease-of-use, cost-effectiveness and environmental impact
- Ensure contractual obligations are met and timely reporting of relevant KPI and financial information
- Liaise with other departments, suppliers and external stakeholders as required
- Ensure compliance with all transport regulations, policies and procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a transport manager or similar role
- Knowledge of transport regulations, policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks
- Customer-focused and problem-solving attitude
- Leadership and team management skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Driving licence and International Transport Manager CPC (desirable)
