Restore Harrow Green is offering an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team as Apprentice Transport Supervisor. This role serves as a stepping stone towards a successful career in logistics within our renowned business unit, Harrow Green.
As an integral part of our team, you will collaborate with the Transport Manager to oversee the daily operations of our diverse fleet, comprising approximately 40 vehicles, including rental units. You'll also receive comprehensive training to develop the foundational skills required for effective transportation coordination
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensuring transport staff deliver the service appropriate to the changing needs of customers in line with relevant guidance and individual risk assessments
- Upon completion of CPC, be designated on the relevant Operator's Licence
- Promptly investigate all incidents, implementing corrective measures to mitigate future occurrences
- Work closely on a day to day basis with managers and other team members to ensure efficient communications between departments
- Participate in the weekly review meeting with move team and management, be responsible for follow up actions as agreed
- Ensure that Company property is maintained at the highest level and faults and defects are promptly reported
- Responsible for directing, coordinating, planning and overseeing tasks and operations within an organisation involving transportation activities
- Ensure all staff adhere to the highway code at all times
- Ensure the legal requirements for road haulage are met
- Manage EU, AETR & GB domestic rules on drivers’ hours, manage working time regulations
- Making sure vehicles are properly maintained
Inspecting vehicles and reducing the risk of vehicle overloading - Arranging repairs and routine maintenance
- Ensuring that all drivers and operators have the correct, up to date qualifications
ABOUT YOU
- Excellent organisation and communication skills whether it is verbal or written, is a crucial skill and aspect for the role. Accurately and confidently convey their thoughts and ideas and transfer information
- Preferably possess a minimum Category B driving licence
- Previous experience working within a transport department is advantageous
- Familiarity with EU drivers' hours rules and sector-specific working time regulations
- Display strong teamwork skills while also capable of working independently
- Complex problem-solving skills
- GSCE or equivalent English & Maths grade C or above
- You must have been a resident in the UK for the past five years
- You can not be in any kind of education currently
