Transport Technician - Road Safety

Salary: £30,751 - £36,312 per year
Hours: 36 per week
The Road Safety are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic colleague to join the team, support the delivery of critical Road Safety projects and contribute to emerging policy.
Following an internal change in the structure we are now looking for a new Transport Technician with experience in developing and preparing interventions and project packages.
Our priority projects include:
• Accident Investigation and Prevention
• Customer relationship and communications
• Pedestrian crossing infrastructure (a citywide framework & delivery)
• Speed reduction measures including surveys and intervention
• Speed limit reductions
• Review of School Travel Plans and Audits
• Delivery of the Road Safety Audit service
• School Communities - engagement, safe active travel and behaviour change initiatives
• Developing progressive Road Safety strategies and consider predictive risk
The postholder will play a key role in the successful delivery of the new Road Safety Action Plan for Edinburgh to 2030. We are seeking highly motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to undertake this challenging but rewarding role.
The proposed Action Plan contains a series of ambitious targets, including zero fatalities and at least a 50% reduction in people seriously injured on the city’s streets by 2030.
You should hold a relevant HNC or equivalent qualification. Experience in project development, developing design or appropriate interventions and successful completion of the RoSPA Road Safety Engineering course would be advantageous (but not essential).

The team undertakes hybrid working, our base is the Council’s main office at Waverley Court, next to Waverley Station.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
