The D-Day Museum Trust is a fundraising Trust based in Portsmouth. The remit for the Trust is to raise funds to support the award-winning D-Day Story Museum and it's collection of both national and international significance which continues to be relevant and hugely inspiring to current and future generations.
The D-Day Story is the only UK museum dedicated to telling the events of 6th June 1944. The museum includes access onboard LCT 7074, the last surviving Landing Craft Tank which took part in the Normandy Landings and the impressive 83 metre Overlord Embroidery.
We are seeking up to four new Trustees to join our board of directors to develop the fundraising capacity of the Trust and to strengthen and diversify the board.
As a board member you will be part of a team working with The D-Day Story to ensure the ongoing legacy of the D-Day landings. You will be involved in supporting fundraising to keep the memory of veterans of the Normandy landings alive for future generations in appropriate and meaningful ways.
Applicants must be passionate about museums and the transformative power of local and historical knowledge and have ideally worked in a meaningful/influential and/or strategic roles within their sector or area of work.
We wish to develop the experience and knowledge base of the board and especially encourage candidates with expertise in the following professional practices to apply:
- Fundraising especially for education or community development
- Marketing and in particular digital expertise
- Business partnerships
- The defence industries
- The Heritage sector

Trustee roles are voluntary with commitment to attend 4 scheduled meetings annually plus occasional additional events and activities when necessary.
