Main Purpose of Job
The Senior Project Manager is a key role within the Offshore Business focussing on the delivery of key packages in the UK, working with Contractors ensuring that SPR’s/ Iberdrola position is suitably protected, and interests are advanced.
Belonging to the ScottishPower Renewables Onshore Works Department and reporting to a Department Manager or Lead Project Manager, the Senior Project Manager will support in the delivery of key work packages for the planning, design, tendering and management of Onshore infrastructure works necessary provide the connection of Offshore Windfarms to the Grid.
The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and during development, contracting and delivery of key packages the individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different project locations.
Key Tasks
• Lead delivery of key work scopes within the Unlicensed Works and Onshore substation package, including co-ordination of key interfaces, management of stakeholders, maintaining compliance with development consent and supporting the construction team through the delivery phase.
• Support delivery of the package on time, to budget and quality following the highest industry practice and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and Environment to ensure regulatory and legal compliance.
• Implement business standards, procedures, tools, best practices and quality requirements for large scale offshore windfarm projects.
• Ensure the delivery of works consistent with SPR strategy.
• Co-ordinating with internal stakeholders include legal, commercial, financial, technical and corporate functions.
• Support the management of project sites under delivery including contractors, consultants and supervisors to support the overall investment plan.
• Manage site hand over from delivery to O&M to secure long term investment value and minimise risks.
• Develop HSE strategy and plans for all project sites and ensure consistency with SPR business strategy to minimise risks and enhance reputation.
• Work with the HSE team to develop HSE strategy for onshore works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.
• Ensure all lessons learned are captured and shared across the key packages and departments. Establish the right mechanisms for this process and ensuring the teams and package implement them to capture and enhance business value.
• Carry out any other duties as directed by the Department Manager, Principal or Lead Project Manager.
Key Criteria
• Good knowledge of onshore substation Unlicensed Works construction procedures, standards, and industry best practice
• Experience of working with National Grid
• Experience in managing contractors and highly skilled teams
• Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in relevant engineering discipline
• Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with onshore substation construction
• IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software
• Flexible to travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites
