Our Fiscal Solutions team supports businesses that trade across Europe and beyond, helping them minimise their fiscal and administrative responsibilities in the countries where they operate. Our primary objective is to ensure a timely filing of our client’s VAT return and supplementary reports while providing excellent client service. We have a team of 30+ people who are experts in different areas of indirect tax compliance and can provide support and VAT advice in a growing number of countries.
The Compliance Assistant role is a challenging but highly rewarding position. It would be the ideal fit for anyone looking to gain experience in the VAT compliance field. We provide a combination of structured training and on-the-job learning. A mentor will be assigned to assist you with any technical and compliance related queries. You will have your own portfolio assigned to you, and the opportunity to support our Client Managers with filing VAT returns and other supplementary declarations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow internal procedures and processes specific to the VAT team as well as in the wider firm.
- Assist Client Managers on ad-hoc requests as and when they arise.
- Be responsible for managing a small portfolio.
- Produce draft emails for the client managers to respond to queries/clarification on data.
- Deal with financial data, preparation of VAT workings, including checking documents (import/invoices) to ensure compliance.
- Calculate the VAT liability for the filing period.
- Submit periodic Tax Returns and any supplementary reports (SAF-T, Intrastat, EC Sales) via the relevant official Tax Authority website or via local partners.
- Manage deadlines and contractual scope to ensure delivery against compliance obligations.
Skills and Experience
- Ability to liaise and build relationships with colleagues and external clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to analyse data and solve problems.
- Ability to use MS Office suite, with intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook. Basic PowerPoint and Publisher.
- Must be able to work on own initiative and be self-motivated.
- To act with integrity and conduct self responsibly and with honesty.
- Be able to understand different perspectives and adapt your working style to accommodate the various needs of our clients.
