Who are we? PetMedics is a large 24-hour veterinary hospital, staffed by a truly superb clinical team of 37 Veterinary Surgeons, 37 nurses and 17 PCAs, all committed and able to offer the best possible level of care to our patients. We have a large waiting room (and separate cat waiting room) - we are proud to have been awarded the GOLD status for being a Cat Friendly Clinic. Our facilities include - 4 theatres, 6 consulting rooms, intensive care unit, digital X-ray, CT scanner, ultrasound scanner, endoscopy, laparoscopy, mechanical ventilation, and in-house laboratory (including blood gases).

The role…. Shifts will include on average 2 first opinion consulting shifts at our Walkden / Salford branches working alongside other first opinion vets and supporting new graduates. 2 hospital shifts will involve a selection of case work-up with a range of options for medical cases, scans, surgeries depending on case interest and experience. Hospital shifts will be working alongside experienced medicine and surgical certificate holders and gives an opportunity for candidates to improve their clinical skills and knowledge in a supportive environment. When it's your weekend on, you will support either emergency walk-in consults seeing a great range of ECC cases or inpatient work-up described as above dependent on candidate's interest.
Rota… This is a 40 hour per week position working over 4 days per week and 1 in 4 weekends. Weekend shifts would involve x2 8 hour day shifts.
Candidate requirements… Ideal candidate would be post PDP and confident with all general first opinion cases. If the successful candidate has any qualifications in behaviour there may be potential to have a role in our behaviour referral team alongside the first opinion role!
