Every Mace person is allowed to volunteer their time to engage in activities that benefit the local community for a minimum of 1 day per year. The Employee Volunteering Lead (EVL) is responsible for planning and promoting group volunteering events for the UK business and supporting international teams with recording and reporting volunteering and fundraising activities. The EVL is also responsible for increasing participation in volunteering activities by employees across the business and monitoring, reporting and capturing volunteering activities and outcomes on a monthly basis.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Developing, implementing, and establishing a volunteering strategy for Mace with clear objectives and deliverables.
  • Project managing the planning, design, and delivery of a programme of volunteering activities, sufficiently diverse to be relevant and of interest to all Mace people.
  • Growing the existing programme of activities to increase engagement amongst Mace people.
  • Creating outputs and reports for Mace colleagues and external partners as required.
  • Dealing with queries and issues in a professional manner.
  • Supporting DIY project delivery.
  • Directing all employee volunteering interactions and communications with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including an extended network of Mace colleagues, client teams, charity/third sector partners and supply chain partners.
  • Working with volunteering champions and project teams to identify volunteering opportunities.
  • Delivering presentations to Mace Business Units to promote employee volunteering and process for recording and reporting activities.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders and teams (e.g. Social Value Construct, BU leads, Mace Foundation) to create a network of support to secure commitment from business engines and to maximise opportunities and ensure appropriate co-ordination of activities and events.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all volunteering plans and activities – including volunteering hours completed and recorded for all activities and volunteer partner outcomes (Bio diversity partners).
  • Reviewing current data capture systems and make relevant changes to improve data quality and accuracy.
  • Evaluating trends (eg geographic or business unit engagement) and action accordingly.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual update reports as required.
  • Working with Mace Events and PR teams to promote Volunteering opportunities and DIY events.
  • Attending meetings and communications events to share volunteering opportunities and targets, and report results.
  • Delivering masterclass session for Mace wide employees to communicate what they need to do to participate in employee volunteering.
  • Writing and producing regular communications content regarding employee volunteering.
  • Preparing case studies of successful events/activities.
  • Setting targets, measuring and reporting volunteering activities (e.g. per business unit) and the value created linked to Value to Society requirements.

You’ll need to have:

  • Relevant degree and membership of an environmental/volunteering/or sustainability body.
  • Proven track record of lead volunteering work.
  • Ability to translate technical topics into layperson language and articulate the value of sustainability.
  • Communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-motivation and ability to self-manage.
