Working in our therapeutic children’s homes and supporting children attending our therapeutic SEMH independent school, your role and duties are similar to those of a Waking Night therapeutic carer, except that you will also be undertaking our 6-month work-based basic training programme that will equip you with the skills and knowledge and experience and understanding of the therapeutic task to enable you to be considered for automatic promotion to the position of Waking Night therapeutic carer following relevant assessment and performance review.
As such, your role is to remain awake throughout the night and meet the needs of the children in our care and keep them, and the sleeping-in adult, safe whilst they sleep. Your shift will begin at 21:30 hrs and finish at 07:30 hrs the following morning. During your shift, you will undertake domestic duties including laundry and light cleaning, carry out regular checks and update records accordingly, and take a lead role in managing (with support) situations and eventualities including emergencies whilst on duty. You will provide colleagues arriving in the morning with a comprehensive handover of information. You will attend relevant meetings and work collaboratively with your colleagues and managers and other professionals to achieve the agreed outcomes for each child and within a group-living setting, and offer each child and the group as a whole real and meaningful experience of living, relating, and learning.
