Job description
Seeking an organised, compassionate Ward Clerk to come be a key member of the unit team. You will be responsible for providing a wide range of administrative, I.T. and clerical support. This includes maintaining computer and paper-based patient records, preparing ward paperwork and the coordination of many of the unit’s activities.
To be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive, and efficient administrative service to Critical Care; enabling the delivery of a high quality service to the patients and allowing medical and nursing staff to focus on direct patient care. This will involve considerable liaison with other departments and units.
To offer effective support to the Critical Care team to assist with the improvement of the flow of patients within the hospital in order to reduce patient waiting times.
• To provide high quality reception duties through welcoming and greeting patients, relatives and staff and visitors to the unit in a professional and courteous manner; dealing appropriately with enquiries ensuring each is followed up and responded to.
• The Ward Clerk has a corporate responsibility to ensure accurate data entry to all computer systems in order to contribute to both patient safety and collection of appropriate income for the Trust.
• Ensure that patients are the focus of everything done and follow good practice to be shared in line with Trust policy. Liaise with nursing and medical staff to prepare and collate all required documentation prior to unit rounds.
• Responsible for ensuring that all risks of cross infection to patients are minimised, and that all policies, procedures and guidance relating to infection control practice are adhered to.
