WaterSpace Project Officer - Bath & North East Somerset Council
Salary: £32,076 – 34,834 per annum (Grade 7)
Fixed term to 31/03/26 with possibility of extension subject to securing further funding.
We are recruiting for a Project Officer to join the WaterSpace team to support the delivery of the WaterSpace Programme. If you have experience of community engagement, developing and delivering communication strategies, producing publications, interpretation materials, and online and printed collateral, with an interest in the natural environment, rivers and waterways, this role is an exciting opportunity to deliver benefits for our communities and nature.
WaterSpace is a strategic programme of projects focused on the improvement of our rivers and waterways. The WaterSpace programme sits within Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Green Infrastructure and Nature Recovery Team and is an important element of the Council’s response to address the Ecological Emergency.
We have secured significant funding to deliver two strategic green infrastructure projects – the Bath River Line and WaterSpace Connected. The post holder will work across both projects and other projects designed to improve our waterways. The project will work with several B&NES services that include Active Travel and Parks Team, and with external partners, including Canal & River Trust, Environment Agency, and Wessex Water. The project involves:
- Nature recovery including wetland restoration and pollinator planting.
- Improvements to green spaces and the public realm
- Access and interpretation improvements
- Events and activities
- Delivering new and improved cycle and walkways.
The post holder will be responsible for developing and coordinating a community engagement programme, including delivering elements of the programme, developing interpretation materials and a project website, and supporting project managers to deliver elements of the WaterSpace Programme.
