Role Overview:

Step Teachers are working with a school that is seeking a dedicated Welfare Assistant to join their team temporarily. The Welfare Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our school's welfare and pastoral care provision. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

• As a Welfare Assistant, you will provide assistance and support to the Welfare Officer in promoting the welfare and well-being of students.
• Monitor and supervise students during break times, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment.
• As a Welfare assistant, you will respond promptly and effectively to any welfare concerns or issues raised by students or staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to address the individual needs of students.
• Maintain accurate records related to student welfare and incidents, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.
• Provide guidance and encouragement to students, promoting positive behaviour and emotional resilience.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to relate to students from diverse backgrounds.
• Empathetic and compassionate approach towards supporting the welfare needs of students.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to changing situations and priorities.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications in childcare, youth work, or related fields are desirable.
