About the role:
This is a unique role based in Sams Café (Lowestoft) designed to support the partnership work with Sizewell C and their commitment to community wellbeing.
Key elements of the project:
- To run the Café in accordance with the principles of SZC’s support, transform, eat/educate, aspire, motivate (“STEAM”) café model.
The Café shall be used for various community activities, offering 5 days a week of daytime activities. The services shall include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Appointments for individuals seeking to use the services provided by the Café in order to assist them in integrating into society;
- Providing educational seminars to assist individuals to understand the psychology behind why they are struggling to integrate into society (and assist them to overcome them);
- Intensive Support Programmes and group activities;
- SZC may use the Café for its art outreach activities; and
- Taking in employee referrals from SZC
The activities of the Café shall be overseen by a STEAM house coordinator, and they will coordinate tasks and activities, adopting ACT’s community circle approach of establishing community resilience for long term recovery. Where the Café generates profits, they shall be reinvested back into the Café.
The Café will provide a physical space which offers a fully functioning town centre café and kitchen plus access to a large education and training room that can be used by SZC as a community base for its staff and any activity it wishes to deliver.
You will work with senior managers to:
- Support the development and agreed priorities of project
- Ensure accessible and comprehensive Health & Wellbeing Information and resources are available in a range of formats
- Coordinate the delivery of prevention advice and signposting, tailored to support community needs and increase the take-up of community and voluntary sector services
- Work with a range of partners to understand the needs of the local community and through partnership work oversee the delivery of a tailored offering to promote positive health and wellbeing
- Engage with local communities to help address barriers to accessibility and health inequalities, developing partnerships with voluntary sector groups that can share targeted health information messages
- Create a timetable of activity/what's on and actively promote this within the community
- Line manage Café staff to ensure our offer is community minded, affordable and in line with Sizewell objectives
- Write and present monitoring reports, data analysis etc.
- Identify gaps in provision and support business case management processes for new bids and tenders when appropriate
Person Specification:
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience gained through working in a health and social care environment
- Food Hygiene level 2 – or willingness to undertake on day one
- Supervisory/Leadership qualification or experience
- Health and Safety
- Experience of supporting and supervising volunteers
- Ability to develop working relationships with voluntary organisations, community groups and our business partners
- Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures
- Experience of maintaining accurate records and general administration
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, customers, and all visitors to Sams
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and use of innovative and lateral thinking in problem solving
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to plan workload and work under pressure
- Good working knowledge of confidentiality
- Excellent IT skills covering Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Good analytical skills
- An understanding of catering systems - food waste, stock rotation and menu planning
- Awareness of COSSH
