Young Persons Worker - Contextual Safeguarding Team

Our Young Persons Worker teams offer vital support, training, and education to young people in their locality. They work with other agencies and professionals to safeguard their young clients, working with their families too where appropriate.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Young Persons Workers - Contextual Safeguarding Team to join the team in Lancashire Young Persons service. 1 role will be based in our Central (Preston) and North (Lancaster) offer, and 1 will be based in our Central and East Lancashire (Burnley). Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

For these positions, the Young Persons Workers will sit within the multi agency Contextual Safeguarding Teams in Lancashire alongside our key partners. They will hold a caseload and provide expert advice for partners. The postholders will lead on Contextual Safeguarding within the Lancs team.

Postholder will need to be able to drive and have access to their own vehicle for business purposes.

You'll also be proactively engaging with young people to provide them with the support, training, education and guidance they need to better understand the implication of the situations they may face and the decision they may take.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

To be able to do this job successfully, you will have:

• excellent relationship building skills with a range of people from a wide variety of backgrounds
• the ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team, sharing your skills knowledge and experience
• good organisational skills to be able to manage your time effectively, prioritising your work and being able to cope with the pressure of competing demands  
• excellent written and oral communication skills, including engaging delivery of presentations
• the ability to record and maintain accurate case details and in a timely manner
• effective IT skills, able to use different packages and digital media

This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced level DBS and barred lists check.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

While they are not essential, the following would be an advantage to candidates;

• a qualification in substance misuse, mental health, psychology, nursing or youth work
• experience of working within Children's Social Care
• Knowledge of parenting skills and issues
