2024 Engineering Apprentice
Level 3 Maintenance Operations and Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

What you will be doing:
This is an exciting opportunity to start an Engineering Apprenticeship with a team of like-minded people, working on some of the most cutting edge technologies and products offered by Thales UK today. This apprenticeship will suit those candidates who are serious about committing to an apprenticeship of learning and development.
This is a trainee post, which on successful completion, will lead to recognition and classification as skilled personnel.
All trainees will complete a common first year in manufacturing operations which will include work based learning to develop the skills necessary to achieve performance levels in the production of components and assemblies consistent with the required quality standards and the Master Production Schedule.
It is anticipated that during the second and third year, trainees will define their core skills area within the spectrum of manufacturing activities. The skill areas anticipated to be required are Mechanical assembly, electrical assembly and manufacturing machining. Skill definition will be based on trainee performance during their first year, and matched to the business requirements at that time.
The Programme:
As an Engineering Apprentice you will undertake a Level 3 Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at a local college, working towards a Level 3 BTEC technical certificate.
For the duration of this 3-4 year programme you will be given one day per week to complete your academic studies, with the other four days applying your learning whilst working alongside Thales engineers.
At the end of the programme there may be scope to progress onto higher level learning for those who demonstrate the required aptitude and commitment.
This opportunity is in Fareham.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, committed and keen to learn. A self-starter who is able to manage their time, show initiative and has a genuine interest in engineering and Thales. Successful candidates will show self-discipline and an aspiration to achieve the qualification.
You will also need:
5 GCSEs grade A-C or Level 4-9, including Maths and English.
Right to Work in the UK for the duration of the programme.
Please note, assessment centres for shortlisted candidates will be held between February and May 2024. Induction week for all Graduate and Apprentices will run from Monday 2 September until Friday 6 September 2024

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales many of our roles are subject to security restrictions and, as a result, you may be limited to what you can work on within our business in relation to your place of birth and/or nationality.
As standard, all successful candidates must possess the permanent right to work in the UK, and will be required to go through Government security clearance at BPSS Level prior to starting with us and then to obtain full Security Clearance (SC) in line with the United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) requirements.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks. As part of the vetting process you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, eligibility to work in the UK, time spent abroad over the last 5 years, as well as employment and / or educational history.
