The Opportunity:
Applications are invited for a PDRA to join the dynamic research group of Dr Denby working on an exciting translational MRC funded study in which we will be targeting CLEC4D+ scar-associated monocyte-derived macrophages (SAMac) to reduce fibrosis and the mechanisms associated with this. This cutting-edge project will involve single cell RNA sequencing of human and mouse kidney and liver samples, spatial transcriptomics, informative transgenic animal studies and metabolomics.
The Denby lab is located in the Centre for Cardiovascular Science (CVS), is part of Edinburgh Kidney and studies will be conducted between CVS and Institute of Regeneration and Repair.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
Your skills and attributes for success:
The candidate must have a PhD (obtained or submitted) in biological sciences / immunology or related.
Extensive experience in either kidney or liver pre-clinical models of fibrosis.
Expertise in flow cytometry and cell sorting.
Strong theoretical knowledge of the mechanisms driving fibrosis.
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of cell culture, immunohistochemistry, confocal microscopy.
