Accountant, Watford, Hertfordshire
£50- £55kpa plus benefits
Our client, a fast-growing group of independent care homes, who are dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to their residents, have identified the need to add a strong well-rounded Accountant to their ranks. With a very healthy acquisition pipeline, this is a very exciting time for the business. They have plans to double their revenues in the next 2/3 years.
As the Accountant, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting the financial well-being of the businesses. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Finance by maintaining financial stability and reporting across all the businesses. You will be supported by a Sales Ledger Assistant and Purchase Ledger Assistant.
Key Duties:-
Day-to day Financial Management:
* Ensuring businesses maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
* Oversee credit control process with Sales Ledger Assistant, taking on the more complex cases.
* Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper documentation of financial transactions.
* Process invoices, expenses, and payroll as needed.
* Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, including processing payments and resolving financial issues.
* Deal with ad hoc finance queries and issues as they arise from the businesses.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
* Run month end procedures including journals and reconciliations.
* Assist in the preparation of both standalone and consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
* Analyse financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance.
* Generate financial statements working papers and schedules for review by the Head of Finance.
Financial Systems and Process Improvement:
* Continuously assess and improve financial systems, processes, and controls.
* Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency enhancements.
The ideal candidate for this role with be fully qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA), however those with demonstrable experience in line with the above will be considered. The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, effective communication and problem-solving abilities, with strong knowledge of UK accounting principles and financial regulations.
