Reed Accountancy are currently partnered with an established organisation in the local area who are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join their existing team. This role will primarily be responsible for providing day-to-day bookkeeping and accountancy services to their clients. This role is integral to the administration of the finance function and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic environment.
Day-to-day duties of the role:
- Provide bookkeeping services for clients.
- Act as an interface between clients and external accountants for financial statements, statutory audits, and tax returns.
- Ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions, including invoices, payroll, and account reconciliations.
- Manage accounting for charity donations, including recording, reconciliations, and interfacing with clients.
- Prepare detailed schedules for board meetings.
- Submit all HMRC regulatory returns promptly.
- Handle bill payments for clients on different banking platforms.
- Oversee payroll runs for clients and resolve any related queries.
- Work closely with management to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, assist with financial planning, and address year-end matters.
- Manage accounts receivable function, assist in monthly invoicing, review cash allocations, and handle debt collection
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT finalist, PQ ACCA, or ACA with 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping or general accounting.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Proficiency in Excel (intermediate level) and familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Sage200.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and adhere to reporting deadlines.
- Experience in the non-profit sector or coming from a practice environment would be advantageous.
- Enthusiastic and capable of creating motivation within the finance team.
- Ready to take on challenges and handle difficult situations effectively.
